Sell your shit

Happy Sunday!

It's a travel day for me as I head back to Florida after spending the week in New York. My heart is full of memories, my belly is full of way too much soft serve, and my feet are incredibly happy they got to touch real grass again. (If you know, you know. Florida grass just doesn't hit the same.)

So, in honor of my trip home, I thought I'd give you a little "New York Michelle."

Go sell your shit.

Seriously.

I've been having way too many conversations lately with business owners who have huge goals. They want to break through their revenue plateau, hit consistent $15K or $20K months, hire help, and finally feel like they're scaling.

And I absolutely love those goals.

But then we start talking about what they're actually doing every week, and I realize something.

They're marketing. They're creating content. They're growing their email list. They're networking. They're nurturing relationships.

But they're not actually selling.

A lot of the people I work with have built really great businesses through referrals, repeat clients, and relationships they've nurtured over the years. When business has always come that way, it's easy to get comfortable waiting for the next inquiry to land in your inbox.

The problem is, if you want to get to the next level, you can't rely on what got you here.

You have to become intentional about sales.

And before your shoulders tense up, I'm not talking about cold DMs or convincing people to buy something they don't need.

I'm talking about leading.

I'm talking about making recommendations, inviting people into your world, following up, asking questions, and helping people make decisions.

In the last couple of weeks, every sale I've made has come from deciding to lead instead of waiting.

One client came to a workshop, knew she wanted support, and then told me she wanted to wait. Everything in me knew she didn't actually need more time. She needed someone to help her process what was keeping her stuck. So instead of saying, "No worries, let me know," I asked if she'd hop on a quick call. We got on the call and by the end she asked me to send her to the link to sign up for the private tier of FVA.

Another opportunity came from something even simpler. I followed up with someone who told me she would need me in a couple of months. I was looking at my lead tracker one day - saw her name, saw it had been a couple months so I sent her a voice note in the DM's. We hopped on a call - she is joining the mastermind tier or FVA

And then last week I made another $400 because I decided to send an email about a flash sale for something I'd already created.

No new product. No launch. 10 minutes of work to duplicate a sales page and change the name. That's $400 in pure profit because I put an offer in front of my audience.

Notice the pattern? None of those sales came from hoping people would magically connect the dots between my content and my offers.

They came because I sold.

I think too many business owners are confusing marketing with sales. Marketing creates awareness. Sales help people make decisions. Your content can inspire people. Your emails can educate them. Your podcast can build trust.

But eventually you have to invite them to take the next step.

And that's where I see so many of you getting stuck. You don't want to be pushy. You don't want to bother people. You don't want to hear no.

But after 10 years in this online business space here's what I know -

The people who are ready to work with you usually aren't waiting to be convinced. They're waiting for you to lead and tell them what the next step is. Make it easy for them to say yes!!

Go sell your shit.

Your future clients are waiting for the invitation.

CEO Power Move of the Week:

One of the biggest reasons business owners don't sell consistently is because "selling" feels like one huge, overwhelming task.

Here's your assignment.

Set a timer for 15 minutes and make a list of every sales activity you could do in your business. Don't overthink it. Just brain dump.

Then circle five that feel the easiest and most natural for you.

Maybe it's:

  • Following up with warm leads.
  • Inviting someone to your workshop.
  • Sending an email with an offer.
  • Asking for referrals.
  • Reaching back out to an old prospect.
  • Sharing a client win with a clear call-to-action.

Now commit to doing those same five activities every single week for the next 60 days.

Most business owners don't have a lead problem.

They have a consistency problem.

They think selling has to look different every week, so they reinvent the wheel instead of repeating what works.
