Hey Hey! Happy Sunday!

I hope this finds you relaxing and enjoying some downtime. I’ve been taking a much-needed digital detox this weekend...put my phone in another room, blocked all the social media apps, and downloaded a new book series to dive into. After the past few weeks, it was time.

This past week marked four weeks since my mom’s original hospitalization. She was back in the hospital again until Wednesday and is now home with me doing her best to recover from all of this trauma. While I was spending long hours waiting, updating family, and talking to doctors, my phone became my lifeline, a distraction (and a lot of fun ideas). But by the end of this past week, I knew I needed a break from screens, decisions, and constant input.

But one of the specialists we saw last week said something that stuck with me and inspired this email.

He said:
​“Trust, but verify. That’s my motto.”

He was explaining his opinion about what was going on with my mom, based on what he’s seen before and his years of experience, but made it clear that he was still running tests to confirm his thoughts.

I haven’t stopped thinking about that line because it applies so perfectly to business too.

It’s so easy to either:

• only trust our gut and ignore the facts
  or
• only trust data and override what feels right

But real clarity comes when you trust your gut and verify with facts.

Here’s how that looks in business:

• Thinking of hiring someone? Trust the vibe and your first impression, but verify by asking for references, checking testimonials, or reviewing their past work.
• Launching a new offer or sales strategy? Trust what feels aligned, but verify by looking at the data after you test it.
• Listening to your audience? Trust what they’re saying, but verify by tracking the behavior (clicks, purchases, replies).

Here’s a real example:
A few weeks ago, I applied to speak at a global women’s summit. I made it past the first round but was asked to pay $97 to move to the next step. My gut said something felt off. Was each step going to require more payment? Would it even be worth it?

Then, in a follow-up email, they listed past speakers and encouraged us to reach out. So I did.

Only one person responded, but she was honest. She told me the results didn’t live up to the promises, and if she could do it again, she wouldn’t. That one message verified what my gut had been saying all along. I decided to pass. No regrets.

Trust but verify.
